Witchercon, presented by Netflix and CD Projekt Red, ended their virtual convention with a one on one chat with Geralt himself, Henry Cavill. And thankfully, they didn’t leave us hanging. The teaser trailer for season two is here.
Henry Cavill is a huge fan of The Witcher world, enjoying the video games and the novels. He sought out the part of Geralt and was initially turned away. He even says he understood if they didn’t want Superman to be Geralt. Eventually, the part came back around, and the rest is history. My favorite part of his chat was when he talked about his “Geralt voice.” Initially he was just to use his regular speaking voice, until one scene where Cavill accidentally started speaking with what would eventually become Geralt’s voice in the Netflix series. Cavill wanted to be sure that he made the voice his own and differed enough from how Doug Cockle brilliantly voiced Geralt in the games so as to not outright copy another actor’s work. Cavill was sure not to reveal too much from the upcoming season, but he did promise that we would get another catchy tune to rival season one’s “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher.”
Now moving on to the teaser. It focuses on the relationship between Geralt and Princess Cirilla (Ciri) as she finds herself shedding the royal title for one of Witcher. Cavill spoke on their relationship and how the Witchers are going to be like uncles for Ciri. Plus, we get the first look at Kaer Morhen, homestead to the Witchers and where we will meet Lambert and Vesemir. Oh and fear not, it looks like Yennefer isn’t leaving us after all.
Stay tuned for more from Netflix and CD Projekt Red on all things The Witcher, and mark your calendars for December 17th, 2021 for the highly anticipated second season.
