Lucifer is on the case when college kids are being poisoned. Lucifer still questions why Chloe kissed him. Charlotte decides to talk with Lucifer about Chloe.
When a college kid is found poisoned, Chloe and Lucifer join the case. Soon, they find an actor claiming that it’s his fault that the kid is dead. It turns out that someone was blackmailing the actor. He received a video saying that if he didn’t cut up his face, then the kid would die. The killer essentially wanted the actor to ruin his career in order to save the kid’s life. When he didn’t, the kid was never given the antidote.
Next, a renowned surgeon is threatened with a similar ultimatum. She must mangle her hands, or another student is going to die. The surgeon says that she made an oath to do no harm and couldn’t sit back to do nothing. She ends up putting her hand into the garbage disposal. It was a selfless act, but the killer isn’t done just yet. To make matters worse, it looks like this poison is the “package†that they lost during their previous case. The poison isn’t the same from victim to victim, which means making an antidote is almost impossible.

Chloe and Dan find out who the killer is. He was a professor who was in a car crash awhile back. During the crash, the professor went back to save his briefcase, but he let the college student driving the Uber die. Now, he’s trying to prove that everyone would make the same decision he did, his career over a random college student. What he doesn’t anticipate is that there are people out there, like the surgeon, who would put their lives at risk to help others.
Chloe decides to be impulsive and reaches out to the killer directly. The professor wants to finish his experiment without interruptions. This time he’s controlling his variables. He has two college students; one of them is a track star. The track star can cut off his leg or let the other student die. To expand on this, when Lucifer and Chloe arrive, the professor lets loose a deadly gas. Chloe could go through the deadly gas to get the antidote to save the student, but she would die. Now what? Lucifer tries to explain that he can do it, but Chloe needs to run after the professor.

Chloe goes after the professor, and he is elated. He knew that she would go after him to save herself. What he doesn’t understand is that Lucifer is going to save the other children. Chloe tries to take the professor in, but he isn’t going without a fight. He kills himself in front of Chloe. There’s nothing else she can do, so she goes to see if Lucifer is okay. Thankfully, he’s fine, and he got the two students to safety.
Charlotte decides that it’s time to tell Lucifer the truth about Chloe. We learned that Amenadiel was sent by his father to bless Chloe’s parents, thus allowing them to have a child, Chloe. Charlotte first goes to Linda, hoping that she will tell Lucifer for her. Linda is getting better at standing up for herself. She tells Charlotte that she won’t be a messenger. Then Charlotte goes to her last resort, Maze. Lucifer meets Charlotte and Maze at a bar. They are struggling to tell Lucifer about Chloe, but then he sees a photo in the bar with Amenadiel and Chloe’s mom. Lucifer doesn’t understand why they would be together. Charlotte explains that his father put Chloe in his path. Now, Lucifer believes that everything they share isn’t real. I don’t believe that she was put in his path to love him; maybe, she was just supposed to challenge Lucifer. He thinks that none of it was real, but that’s not necessarily true, right? Just because she was put in his path doesn’t mean that she was meant to love him. And even if she was, is that so bad? I guess we’ll find out, but I have a bad feeling that Lucifer is going to ruin it before letting anything happen.
