“I Know Who You Are” delivered the answer to the most pressing question upon which this entire season is built; who is Savitar? After many wild theories, our first inclination was indeed the right one.

Savitar is the future Flash. This was far more than a simple statement from Savitar early on when Cisco vibed through Julian; it was a rather blatant admission to who he was. That was far and away the best part of this episode, even if I didn’t really like the idea that Savitar is just the Flash from the future. They did a sequence later on in the episode where Barry finally pieced together the various sequences that pointed to Barry being Savitar after all. From the scenes where Savitar knew exactly what each character was going to say when guiding Killer Frost along to just about every other instance where Team Flash interacted with Savitar or one of his disciples, the small hints at his true character were done exceedingly well.

While I enjoyed the way they weaved through the past events with Savitar, I felt that Savitar being the future Flash was a bit too simple. But having said that, I could have found issues with just about any character being revealed as Savitar. The teases to his identity just went a bit too far, and I don’t believe any reveal would have changed that fact.

As for the episode, we were given the chance to meet a new character, Tracy Brand (Anne Dudek), and she was a breath of fresh air with her interactions with HR. We learn that she is the person that creates a device to harness the Speed Force and use it to imprison Savitar in the future; although, her invention comes a few years too late to save Iris, and thus the entire team. When they go to get her, she is hilariously on the verge of quitting and working at Big Belly Burger but in walks Killer Frost. The continued flirtatious persistence of HR capped off a nice introduction for the character, no matter how long she ends up sticking around.

The fight sequences with Killer Frost also did wonders for further pushing Cisco’s character into uncharted waters. Their close relationship has somewhat been severed with her further transformation into Killer Frost; although, there are still tiny pieces of Caitlin within. Cisco’s inability to confront her for fear of mortally injuring Caitlin gives further credence that he believes there’s a way that he can get the real Caitlin Snow back. They did get a vial of her blood, which should allow them to synthesize a cure, but that is all assuming that they are able to take care of the big Savitar problem.

Although a bit pushed to the side, Joe’s relationship turbulence with Cecile paralleled Barry’s shaky start with Iris. Joe is stuck between furthering his relationship with Cecile and making the attempt to hold everything else together at home. The advice in which Joe gave to Barry in the previous episodes/seasons can certainly be applied to his current situation, one which Barry does point out. Joe telling Cecile “everything” will surely have implications for their relationship moving forward, for better and for worse.

The actual reveal of Savitar was done well. I love the fact that it is just that future Barry in a suit of protective armor and the way he comes out of it is sweet. His burnt face should lead to some nice storylines. Maybe we could see the return of Ronnie Raymond?

WHAT IS DUAL PIXELS?

Dual Pixels is more than just an organization, it's a culture. The interactive arts are our passion, this includes gaming and innovations brought forward with technology. The beauty of being an independent organization is the fact that we have the opportunity to bring back the enthusiasm in a gaming industry which is becoming increasingly corporate and stale. The Dual Pixels brand is full of perspective hence the reason why we also go by the appellation "The Digital Crossover".
