After the wildly popular alpha of Destiny a couple months ago, the only thing we wanted was more and we don’t have to wait much longer. The beta will be available for those that pre-order the game at participating retailers. The PS4 community will have first crack at the beta, but others won’t have long to wait. Check out the schedule pulled from the press release below.
The Beta begins first for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system (PlayStation Plus required for some features) and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system at 10:00am PDT on July 17
The Beta begins for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system and Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft (Xbox Live Gold required, subject to change) at 10:00am PDT on July 23
The Beta will be offline for scheduled maintenance on July 21 – July 22 and open back up to pre-order participants across all platforms until 11:59pm PDT on July 27
Prior to the alpha, the game was getting middling previews with little content. The anticipation of such a massive game was beginning to cause many of us to question if they could pull off another Halo. After participating in the alpha, it’s easy to see our qualms were quelled. The beta is set to feature even more content and, as with all games in development, will feature a more polished experience as the game makes it way through development.

Destiny is being developed by Bungie, published by Activision Inc; and will release on September 9, 2014 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
